Welcome to the other side of the rainbow. Are you a good witch or a bad witch? I'm not a witch at all, but I do enjoy working magic with words.

Tuesday Tunes: Heartbreak Hotel
Before the silly romantic comedies of the 60s and the Vegas jumpsuits of the 70s, Elvis in the 1950s was the real deal. Here he is in all his rock and roll glory. Long live the King!
Yeah you right. Elvis was a great entertainer even after his army stint, but Heartbreak Hotel and ALL his Sun label records beforehand were fabulous. Nobody until the Beatles ever came close. Nobody.
Early Elvis is a force of nature and a sight to behold and behear. (Is behear a word? Well, it just came off my keyboard...) I'm not sure I totally agree with Anthony - as Little Richard was pretty potent among a few others - but he has a point. Luana, did you by any chance ever see the movie "Heartbreak Hotel" with Charlie Schlatter, David Keith and Tuesday Weld?

ReplyDeleteAnthony: I agree. Elvis was so distinctive in his voice and style. There is no one like him.
ReplyDeleteCraig: YES! I love that movie. As a matter of fact, I was thinking of highlighting it this week in my Friday Flicks! You read my mind.
