G is for Ginger Grant

Welcome to the A to Z Blogging Challenge where I will post on a word
featuring a different letter of the alphabet each day of the month of April.
My theme for this challenge is Female TV Characters.

Ginger Grant- "Gilligan's Island"

THE STORY:

Just sit right back and you'll hear at a tale
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship

The mate was a mighty sailing man
The skipper brave and sure
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour

The weather started getting rough
The tiny ship was tossed
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The "Minnow" would be lost

The ship set ground on a shore of this uncharted desert isle with
Gilligan
the Skipper, too
the millionaire and his wife
the movie star
the professor
and Mary Ann
Here on Gilligan's isle

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL: Is it typical for a person to pack several bags of luggage for a three hour tour? I suppose movie stars have a different set of priorities. I have no idea how Ginger managed her high-maintenance style with nothing on the island but coconut oil and bananas. Nevertheless, she always managed to look like a million bucks.

How do you think Ginger would do as a contestant on Survivor?

  1. I liked that program. Of course Mary Ann was my favorite. I have never seen Survivor so I don't know how she would do. She never broke a nail or a sweat in three (3) years on the Island.

However, reports was that she was a diva, spoiled and hard to work with. She wouldn't do any re-union shows and blamed the series for ruining her career.

  2. Gregg: Mary Ann was my favorite, too. The girl next door. I always thought she and Gilligan would make a cute couple. Tina Louise had issues with the show, but I'd like to hear her side of it. I read that the first season (or pilot) she was dressed in a toga type dress, but later on she was playing it more like Marilyn Monroe and had beautiful gowns.

  3. Yeah, How did she always manage to look so good on that island?

  4. Debra: I have no idea. But she was gorgeous! (another G word!)

  5. What a clever idea to use character names! I've been trying to use song lyrics...

  6. OMG, now that song will be playing in my head all weekend. LOL

That was a funny show and I always was amused at how nice everyone looked for being stranded on a deserted island. I must say I did like Mary Ann the best, even though she spelled the name wrong. Everyone knows it should be Maryann, as in Maryann Miller. (smile)

  7. We all loved that crazy show. Ginger did look great all the time. I liked Mary Ann better too.

  8. Gail: Song lyrics is a great idea for a theme. This challenge is a lot of fun.

  9. Maryann: Yep everyone was pretty clean and well fed. Must be all those coconuts and fresh fish. I agree Mary Ann needs to rethink the spelling. LOL

  10. Belle: If I took a poll I think most people like Mary Ann the best. Including the guys.

  11. I'm kind of fond of both ladies - and might have tried dating them on alternate nights if I'd been there. Coconut cream pies and some chaste kisses with Mary Ann one night, and a show using that windup record player with Ginger and...some chaste kisses the next night...

  12. I don"t know about anyone else but I never liked Ginger.

  13. Craig: You would be the island's Don Juan. LOL.

  14. Marjorie: Ginger was definitely all about Ginger. I guess when there are only seven people in your world, you have to make the best of it. I think Ginger would have been the first voted out on Survivor. She couldn't handle the physical challenges. God forbid she breaks a nail.

  17. Resourcefulness seems important for Survivor. I'm sure Ginger would be good for that. Thanks for posting.

  18. Jessica: You are right. I think Ginger has got the survival factor. Anyone who can wear high heels on the beach must be pretty resourceful.
