Welcome to the A to Z Blogging Challenge where I will post on a word
featuring a different letter of the alphabet each day of the month of April.
My theme for this challenge is Female TV Characters.
Hot Lips Houlihan - "M.A.S.H."
THE STORY: Hot and heavy into the Korean War, Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan is head nurse in a M..A.S.H. unit. In addition to saving lives, she is having an affair with brown-noser, Frank Burns.
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL: Hot Lips grew up as an Army brat and her whole life is the military. She has a tough exterior but under the hardened shell is a compassionate woman. She deserves the Purple Heart for putting up with the shenanigans of Hawkeye and Trapper John.
What do you think Hot Lips has hidden away in her foot locker?

You've got an interesting theme for your A-Z. Love learning all about these characters!

Love your theme. I was never a fan of Hot Lips Houlihan, though.

I could guess but I could guess forever and never be right. I think she like it to be Frank Burns or maybe Donald Penopscot. Maybe it is a bottle of gin. Could be a one size fits all men wedding dress.
ReplyDeletenutschell: I've always been a TV nut so this was a perfect fit for me.
ReplyDeleteCarol: Thanks! Hot Lips had her hands full, that's for sure. Humiliation was the name of the fame.
ReplyDeleteGregg: Good guesses. I'm going with the wedding dress.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! Loretta Swit played Hot Lips so well. What's hidden in her locker? I am going with lots of Polaroids, scrap books, and a diary from her childhood.
ReplyDeleteHot Lips became a sympathetic character as the show went on. I really liked her and Loretta Swit. I don't remember the locker though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post. I like being reminded of things I like.

The Growing Writer
I watched M*A*S*H nearly every Monday night for ten years. I adored Loretta Swit - also liked her in the movie Race with the Devil too. And although this A-Z is all Female TV Characters - let's give one quick shout out to Sally Kellerman - the movie version of Hot Lips!
ReplyDeleteYou've picked another great character to feature, Luana, but I don't know what Hot Lips had in her footlocker...
ReplyDeleteSusan: Good guess. I think she's probably pretty sentimental deep down. When you're at war, pictures from home probably help to make it a little easier.
ReplyDeleteBelle: It was a great show and so much better because of Hot Lips. Too much testosterone in the camp.
ReplyDeleteVon: Thanks for stopping by. It's fun coming up with an A to Z theme. The possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteCraig: Awesome shout out! Who would have thought the movie would have become a TV show and had the success that it did? I also liked Loretta in Race with the Devil...that movie creeped me out!
ReplyDeletePatricia: A whip and chains? Stamp collection? Recipe for cinnamon rolls? Racy romance novels? You just never know...
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Love MASH. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteJust Be Real: Thanks for stopping by. Yes, it was a great show. Our family watched it every week. I adore Alan Alda.
