Tuesday Tune: Sixteen Tons

My mom introduced me to the songs of Tennessee Ernie Ford. This was her favorite. She used to sing it while she did housework.

Ahhh...that takes me back. Also one of my Mom's faves, along with the song "King Of the Road". (Forget who it's by, but I knew the words when I was little.)

Ah yes - Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic - TE was a flour pitchman in my youth - I think he might have had a syndicated variety show around the time (mid-to-late 70's). This song always intrigued me because my father and both my grandfathers were all coal miners. This choice was 32,000 pounds of fun, Luana! Thanks!

Lisa: Roger Miller sang King of the Road. That was one of my Tuesday Tunes a few weeks ago. He's amazing.

Craig: TE was awesome. I remember he was guest star on The Andy Griffith Show once or twice and played a cousin. Not only can he sing, but he was a real funny guy.
