A Christmas Carol

For the past several years, I've begun a tradition of reading Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" during the month of December. It's my favorite Christmas story and from the amount of movies based on this Victorian tale, it's inspired others as well. My favorite film version features Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.  What are your Christmas traditions?

CHAPTER 1:

Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it: and Scrooge's name was good upon 'Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

The usual, really. One thing I do enjoy is sitting down in the wee hours one morning, the house dark except for the Christmas tree lights, and just sit in their glow and think. Might be remembering Christmases of my youth, might be making plans for the coming year, might be any of a number of other things, but I always do it, sitting there for a good fifteen or twenty minutes. I've been doing that every year since I was a kid. I like your reading material for the month!

Craig: I do that as well. I love to just look at the tree in the quiet darkness. I also put on a lovely CD of George Winston music and it really sets the mood.
