It's a Wonderful Life

A to Z Blogging Challenge: Movie Memories
Blogging about the movies that made an impact on my life

Is there anyone in the universe who hasn't seen It's a Wonderful Life (1946)? Almost everyone I know has fond memories of spending Christmas with George Bailey.

A few years ago I wrote (and performed) a comedy sketch inspired by the movie called "Christmas on Trial" -- a man is put on trial for saying "Merry Christmas." Here is the cast:

Clarence -- Man on trial
Mr. Potter -- Prosecuting attorney
Ms. Bailey -- Defense attorney
Judge Wainwright -- Judge
Zuzu Petals -- Witness for the defense

My favorite lines from the sketch:
POTTER: I want the truth!
CLARENCE: You can't handle the truth!

My favorite line from the movie:
HARRY: To my brother George. The richest man in town.

As usual, you sure know how to pick them! Jimmy Stewart was great in everything he ever did!

Hi, Ju! Best movie ever! One of my coworkers had never seen The Wizard of Oz if you can believe it! I let her borrow mine...that is just so wrong.

Love your choices in movies.

This quote sticks with me:

“It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.” – Will Munny, Unforgiven.

Marjorie: You're right. Best Christmas movie ever. A true classic.

Huntress: Great quote! Unforgiven was a terrifc Clint Eastwood-come back vehicle. I've always liked him best in Westerns.

My favorite line in this movie is when Santa Claus says, “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid”.

OK, OK, I’m jus’ kiddin’.

Seriously, my favorite line in this movie is: “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”

Hey, I ain’t as ignint as I pretends! I’m ignint, sho’ nuf, but not as ignint as I ACTS. (No one could be THAT ignint! ...'Ceptin' my identical twin brother)

"As a dog returns to his own vomit,
so a fool repeats his folly."
~ Proverbs 26:11

POSTSCRIPTS: Methinks yer 'sposed to click on the words "I ACTS" so the great truth will be revealed.

Such a magical motion picture! It was so strange to me that you used to constantly find this in the bargain VHS bin as it was considered public domain - which is also why every broadcast TV channel used to show it so much back in the day at Christmas time - it was free! Then NBC (I think) either dug up the rights or did something that gave them exclusive use. Now it seems to still be theirs to handle. Due to its ubiquitousness it sometimes gets a little overlooked - but it is a true classic and I'm glad you're giving it some love here! Cheers!

Craig: True, it's been on TV quite a bit, but I never get tired of watching it. Jimmy Stewart is amazing!
